America loves food and we love to know who's the best. So it was only a matter of time before someone combined the two.
The inaugural World Food Championships will take place Nov.1-4 in at Bally's Las Vegas.
The competition will feature the best chefs in America competing in several categories with the winners advancing to the final table and competing to become World Food Champion and win $50,000.
Who wouldn't love to be able to call themselves the World Food Champion?
Categories include world championships of barbecue, open chili, sandwich, side dish, burger and recipe.
There will also be the world chef challenge where 48 of the world's greatest chefs will compete in a tournament that challenges them in skills, recipe and taste. The winner receives $10,000 and a spot in the final table.
The winners of several local contests, including the Grand Champions of the 2012 Stagecoach Music Festival barbecue contest, Orange County's El Fuego Fiasco, were invited to participate in the championships.
The championships will also feature a food expo with live cooking demonstrations and appearance from several food experts and celebrities.
Travel Channel star Adam Richman is the host/ambassador for the championships. He is the host of "Man v. Food: Nation" and "Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America."
Among the chefs also making appearances are Nadia G., Elizabeth Falkner, Antonia Lofaso, Kerry Heffernan and Jeff Henderson.
While the demonstrations and competitions are free, there are several special events that have tickets available for purchase.
