PECHANGA: Scott Weiland performs STP classics June 5

We waited a few days to tell you about this show because we wanted to make sure it was real.

Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland will perform Wednesday, June 5 at Pechanga Resort and Casino.

Weiland will focus on the band's first two albums in a show dubbed "Purple to the Core: the music of Core and Purple."

At their peak, the Grammy winning group were one of the most popular rock bands in the world. However, Weiland's struggles with substance abuse caused album and tour delays.

Earlier this year Stone Temple Pilots announced they had fired Weiland, however, he has publicly expressed his interest in recording with band again.

Despite the controversy that surrounds him Weiland is one of the most prolific lyricists of the modern rock era. When he's on, he's also a fantastic performer.
