Apparently, there's some truth to the rumor that Slayer fans are not big Metallica fans. I first realized this by going online to read some Slayer blogs before today's Big 4 festival.
Jesse Seelinger, 34, of Mission Hills, is devoted to his favorite Band, as his Slayer T-shirt would confirm. "The reason I don't like Metallica is they became mainstream and commercialized. They sold out. I like their old stuff, but I just don't like the new stuff."
Seelinger says he'll stick around to hear Metallica tonight because his ride home is a big Metallica fan.
Christian Ichikawa, 17, of San Juan Capistrano, is also a huge Fan of the brutal, punishing sounds of Slayer. "Once they came out with the black album, it was over," he said of Metallica. "A lot of hard-core fans don't like it because it's not their original sound."
