Flight Exotic Bird Sanctuary, a non-profit exotic bird sanctuary is hosting Parrot Classes. Come learn about parrots in a fun, interactive environment. The first two sessions were well attended and packed full of entertaining and useful information. There are four more sessions in this series that is comprised of 11 different topics. Joyce Dodd, Director of Quail Ridge Parrot Rescue, Speaker and Bird Behaviorist teach the classes.
These classes are held monthly at 2:00 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month through the end of the year. The price for each class is $15.00 per person in advance, or $20.00 per person at the door. Not only is this an opportunity for you to learn more about parrots, whether you are an owner now or are planning to be in the near future, but it is also a chance to meet other bird owners, current and prospective just like you.
The schedule for the remaining classes is as follows:
Session #3--September 12th: "Who Took My Baby and Left this Instead...Adolescent Behavior" & "You Mean There's More!!!...Dealing with Hormones in Your Exotic Bird".
Session #4--October 10th: "To Scream or Not To Scream...That is The Question" & "Ouch, That Hurt...Why Does My Bird Bite?"
Session #5--November 14th: "So You Want A Talking Parrot...Tips on Speech Training" & "But Why do We Even Need Parrot Rescues?"
Session #6--December 12th: "Setting Up Santa's Workshop...Toy Making 101" & A Bird Adoption Fair.
Free Flight Exotic Bird Sanctuary has many birds that are in need of homes. It is felt by all who work with birds that education is crucial in providing an adequate home for a parrot. All profits from this series of classes will go to Free Flight for the care and maintenance of the birds that you will be able to see on site. If you are interested in attending, please contact Free Flight Exotic Bird Sanctuary to RSVP. Their address is 2132 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar, CA 92014. Phone: 858-481-3148.
