Popovich Comedy Pet Theater, featuring European-style clowns, amazing juggling and balancing acts, and, of course, those spectacularly trained cats and dogs, will be presented Jan. 21 at the Sturges Center for the Fine Arts.
The 8 p.m. show, at 780 N. E St., is a presentation of the City of San Bernardino Economic Development Agency. Tickets are $19-$45, available through www.ticketmaster.com or the theater box office at 909-885-5152.
As part of the appearance by Popovich Comedy Pet Theater, the California Theatre and Sturges Center are partnering with the San Bernardino-based non-profit group HEAL (Help Every Animal League) to help promote the show, which stars rescue animals.
The group, founded in May 2009 by Mexico Café owner Sharon Blechinger, helps raise money for animal shelter and its programs to help increase pet adoptions, and increase awareness of the financial needs the shelter.
HEAL will have animals from the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter outside the Sturges Center, prior to the evening show.
Popovich Comedy Pet Theater, which has entertained audiences throughout the world, stars Gregory Popovich and features his cast of dogs and cats, all rescued from animal shelters and trained into amazing performers.
Tricks include cats walking on top of rolling balls and traipsing across balance beams, dogs jumping rope and riding scooters, and all the four-footed stars climbing, jumping and running in a non-stop, surprise-filled show.
Popovich Comedy Pet Theater has appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Show with David Letterman," "America's Got Talent" and "Good Morning America," among others.
Gregory Popovich, who traveled with the Moscow Circus in Europe and The Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus in the United States, has been a featured performer at Circus Circus in Las Vegas.
